I’m a little confused as to whether

A bunch of people I used to value highly have all turned into dicks at around the same time,
My tolerance for douchebaggery has lessened pretty abruptly, or
*I’m* the one who’s become a dick recently and I need to sort that out.

Atm I’m thinking that it’s a mix of 1 and 2 but the possibility of 3 still exists and that’s a problem. Either way I’m going to take a serious break from the internet for a while because the relationships I had with several pretty close friends have just been frustrating for a few months now.

If I have somehow offended you and it is genuinely unprovoked and my fault, then I’m sorry, I guess. My policy in life is generally to be a nice and decent person to people unless they don’t deserve it, but maybe my estimations of that have gotten confused recently. I dunno. I don’t like feeling like this, and the semi-public forum of the internet is not a great place for me to be trying to work that out.

Be happy and kind to one another while I am gone, fellow browsers. Look after the internet for me, I’ll be back soon. :)

LifeScouts is a project I have been working on for the past few months. And alongside working on some of the badge designs, I collected all the artwork and piled it all into this one poster design. I think I find it therapeutic collating things like this…

Anyway, about… 15 minutes ago this guy she waited on left and told her to take care. Just that. Prior to this she had talked to him about Italy. Her people are from Florence, this and that, and she said she’s never been. She’s got 8 years of art education and she’s working a waitress job. It’s pretty… Sad and disappointing, I guess. Her and my father divorced 6 years ago and she hasn’t had a real job ever. Just been stuck in a small town she’s not from.

This man who we have never seen before tipped her 1000 dollars for a trip to Italy. Walked out, not another word.

…you know. Just when I start to lose faith in humanity….Hm.

I first learnt to ride a proper bike in France when I was about five. My mum, dad, youngest brother and I were staying on this campsite called La Loubine (check out the sound effects on their website for a nice little treat) and Dad thought it was time I learnt to ride an actual bike so he bought me this cheeky blue-and-white number with stabilisers from the local E.Leclerc (which, people familiar with France might be pleased to know, my dad just calls ‘Monsieur Leclerc’ so until I was about 17 I just thought that’s what the supermarket was CALLED and I’ve definitely referred to it as that to ACTUAL FRENCH PEOPLE before. -_-)

At the time, though, I already had a little pink tricycle that I had formed a serious emotional connection with, so after a few goes on the new bike, I decided that, actually, stabilisers aren’t as cool as a Barbie trike with shiny ribbons coming from the handlebars, so I carried on happily zooming around the campsite on three wheels like the superstar I obv knew I was.

My dad got kind of pissed with my refusal to ride the bike he’d just paid like 700 francs for, cos we were mad-boss poor back then, so one evening (when he’d probably had a generous helping of wine, looking back) he just threw my tricycle into a skip and I cried for HOURS. Ngl there’s a little part of me that still hasn’t forgiven him for this sudden but inevitable betrayal. What a shit.

TO BE FAIR, his vicious heartlessness paid off cos I kept trying to ride the HIDEOUS NEW BIKE while we were at La Loubine. And then we had to drive back to the north coast to get the ferry back home and we overnighted on another campsite (I just did a google and I think this is it? Completely irrelevant information but I’m just setting the scene) and that was the first time I rode my bike without stabilisers like a BIG GIRL because I wanted to make my daddy proud of me.

AND THAT’S THE STORY OF WHY I CAN RIDE A BIKE NOW although I hadn’t ridden a bike for like 5 years when I got my bike for uni this year so, while obv I hadn’t forgotten HOW to, I was unfamiliar enough with the workings of a bicycle that the first time I got on it I tried to ride it with the handlebars completely the wrong way round. Like. How do you even make that mistake. Fucking hell.

if you live close to me, i’m generally pretty good about hanging out and catching up, but i’m not one to text or skype to check in very often unless the other person does so often with me. and that has nothing to do with whether i like you or not, i’m just very bad at keeping up with online relationships

some of who i consider to be close friends, are people i will not talk with for weeks and weeks- sometimes months, be that because of busy schedules, forgetfulness or what have you

but i care about a lot of people and am glad to have them in my life- i just generally do a bad job at reminding people of this on a regular basis
